2 Stars SKYPE…..DISSAPOINTED
I upgraded from a 10.1 to the 11.6, with an 8 hr battery. I loved theunit till I tried to call my daughter on Skype……….terrible jerkyfrozen video. I found out that the 11.6 had some kind of a 500, cardinstead of a 900. That is apparently the reason this does not come withSkype loaded. Consequently I spent $390 for a unit that sets on a shelf.I now use my 10.1 which I love, Skype works great. I am very disappointed in Acer for putting together a new, under performing unit.

2 Stars Very Slow CPU
The CPU is very slow. Good thing it has a long battery life. You are going to need it as it will take longer to do your task. Seem to take forever to load up. As I surf the Internet, I can tell it takes awhile to refresh the pages. I try watching videos [...] and I notice the freezes every 10 seconds. Forget it watching it in full screen. Then you can really tell how much it lags.

The good part about this machine is the light weight and the screen is beautiful. Battery lasts as advertised with low setting.

You are better off with a notebook that uses the Atom 270 or 280 CPU that is 1.6 MHZ. I didn’t think .3 MHZ makes that much a difference, but it does.

One last thing: I noticed a high pitch sound from the netbook. I could not tell you what is making that noise. Could be the spinning if the drive or fan.

4 Stars What I expected and am happy with that….
I got this netbook to actually replace a 15.4 inch macbook pro (I know the blasphemy of it all), well not so much replace it, but travel with it in place of the mac (which I am still keeping, since it is company issued). My reasons were I spend so much time in airports and planes each week walking around and pulling out the laptop to work, that the low battery life, with the scarce number of outlets in an airport, plus the shrinking seating room in airplanes was limiting my computer time. This netbook is supposed to solve all that. Well, I haven’t traveled with it yet, but I spent some time “prepping” it and testing it. It is very light and the battery is lasting around 6 hours with fairly heavy use (wifi always on, bluetooth adapter, screen 75% brightness, etc). I mainly use web browsers (we sell a Saas based software application), itunes for my iphone, and Microsoft Office (sparingly). I also gave a web presentation using gotomeeting, which worked with no problems. My only complaint, which is everyone else’s and what I expected was the low performance (yes I did upgrade to 2gigs and I am running xp not vista – shudder), but again I expected that. Two complaints are the heavy battery makes balancing it on my lap cumbersome as the laptop wants to tilt back all the time and the flex in the screen backing (or lid), when closed and I am gripping it, it feels like it might give if I squeezed to much. I do find one key kind of squeaking a little, but the keyboard is a joy to type on compared to the 8.9 acer aspire one (which I also own). Overall I am pleased with the purchase. I gave it 4 stars and not 5, because of the give in the casing of the netbook, which I think could have been sturdier, but here is hoping to lighter travel both in scheduling and in the amount of weight I have to lug around (now to find the perfect backpack for a day trip and my little net book and accessories – Samsonite Proteo anyone?)

Compramos esta netbook para mi esposa y ella est? muy complacida con su tama?o y desempe?o. El uso que ella le d? es para poder llevar sus fotos y m?sica donde sea que vaya, poder conectarse a internet sin problemas. La c?mara web integrada es genial, funciona bien sin ning?n problema a pesar de ser de s?lo 0.3 Mega Pixeles. El rendimiento de la bateria es muy bueno, ella carga la netbook y puede paar varios dias usandola sin necesidad de recargarla (por supuesto unas cuantas horas al dia).

The Samsung Netbook has a good size keyboard which is great for typing. I love the speakers built in on the side. The 6 hour battery works great also. I would recommend this netbook for those looking into purchasing a lighter, more mobile way to be connected to the internet.

Mine arrived fast, in good shape, ~ 18 Sep 09. Really like it so far, but haven’t wrung it out yet … primarily due to my shallow level of experience with PCs.

Ordered an external drive, too. It came the next day. Is about as generic a drive as you will ever see. Instructions are a small (5×7?) size card, folded into 4 “pages.” Mixed Japanese characters, and very poor English. NO, NONE, ZERO, 0, Nada, identification of manufacturer. But, it seems to work.

Primary complaint with the netbook is its function keys. The keys in general are white lettering on black surface. No problem there. BUT the function icons of the function keys are tiny, and printed in blue, located in the upper left corner of each key; and of course they are dual-function (groan) instead of dedicated keys like on a desktop. Back when I was tech writing for a living, we would have called it “4 point eyestrain agate,” but I think these are 2 point, not 4. Of course it may be that I am an old geezer, and wear trifocals. Whatever their size, they are just too darn small!

Battery really seems pretty potent. Have not run a timed test, but it is lasting way longer than I expected. I plan on using the unit in car on long trips … when I am doing any navigating when spouse is driving. Would like to plug it in to car’s 12 Volt power source, (aka Cigarette Lighter Socket) but hate to plug in a male 12VDC->110VAC converter, then a male 110V cord plug which feeds a power block (unlabeled) that feeds another cord which feeds the N120. If anyone knows of a 12VDC plug that can feed direct to the N120 I would appreciate hearing of it, and how it worked for you. Or somebody.

I’ll revise, hopefully improve, this when I finally get the N120 on the web … here at home via a Verizon connection, or in a motel/hotel/etc.

I don’t neet to bring the charging set, cause this netbook lasting enough to use.

One thing that I think unconvienience is keypad, because the function key at bottom left and window key at bottom right should be placed oppositly.

So, I can control the brightness of screen and volume with one hand.

Just bought this from Amazon a month ago and I LOVE IT! It has everything I was looking for:

Long battery life (I don’t have to drag the power cord around with me all day.)

To me, it was an easy decision after a bit of research. This is the best for the price. The screen is plenty bright, and the battery still lasts 6-8 hrs. The keyboard is *slightly* smaller than a standard size one, and I adapted to it quickly. I really like the touchpad and the zoom function. The *only* minor annoyance is that its glossy finish gets smudged easily. I keep a lens-cloth in the case to shine it up. Problem solved. I was happy to buy it here–free shipping and no sales tax! It shipped quickly and arrived a few days before the estimated delivery date. If you decide this is the one for you, I hope you’ll be as happy as I am with this netbook.

This is a great little computer, until the charger stops working! So many people have had this problem that Asus has run out of replacement chargers. They assured me it would only be a month or 2 before I would receive it. Nice.

I FOUND COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPANY HELP RATHER TEDIOUS AND TIME CONSUMING. VOILA!! FINALLY AT LENGTH FOUND THAT THE TOUTED USB PORT WAS NOT A USELESS APPENDAGE AND THAT INDEED A TABLE TOP MOUSE WAS SUITABLE BUT ONLY AVAILABLE FROM ANOTHER VENDOR. PERHAPS NOW WE WILL BE ABLE TO EXPLORE THE HIGH RECOMMENDATIONS THAT LED TO OUR PURCHASE OF THIS MACHINE. THE COMPANY HAS A BEWILDERING ARRAY OF LAPTOP COMPUTERS AND IT WAS ONLY THIRD PARTY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE THAT LED TO THIS PARTICULAR SELECTION.

3 Stars Good but not a great
I purchased the acer because it had the largest screen and was priced below most of the others. I am glad that windows xp was installed and not vista since this computer has problems with simple tasks like browsing the Internet Xp consumes less of the netbooks resources compared to vista. I believe the problem with Internet speed and the computer freezing up which I experince about once a day lays in the Intel Atoms design the atom is a single core compared to the dual core intel i have in my notebook which enables a computer to function with less problems. I will be upgrading to a two gb 800mhz stick of ram to see if this helps. All in all I am pleased with the computers design it just gets annoying when you are trying to do things and the netbook freezes up.

Im typing my Review on my new Acer AO751h. The 11.6″ High Def Screen is FANTASTIC. Big, Bright, PERFECT. Keyboard is FAST and quiet. Construction feels very solid, no creaks or bending. My desktop is a 2.16 Ghz

Core Duo with an ASUS SLI Motherboard, and frankly Im amazed how well this little single core holds its own in comparison. The fact is, if you are doing heavy PROCESSING jobs like Gaming or Video editing, heck yeah a 1.22 Ghz wont cut it. If you are low on cash and want a full fledged all purpose LAPTOP computer, this aint it. You will be Hatin’ it! But for Web Surfing, Music, YouTube, e-mail etc, I find it to be WAY FAST ENOUGH. And compared to OTHER NETBOOKS, and I’ve BEEN shopping them all, this IS the one with all the goodies for the price. Personally, XP, 2gig Ram (I replaced the 1 gig with a 2 gig stick from Amazon for like, $28 ) the Great Keyboard, and the Fab 16 x 9 High Def Screen puts this one ahead of all the others. Absolutely no other complaints, except, oh yes, it IS a fingerprint magnet, BIG WHOOP! Happy Surfing!!

I’ve been absolutely delighted with my Aspire One. I loaded it with Ubuntu Netbook Remix as soon as I got it, and everything “just worked” after I updated the BIOS on the Aspire. This little gem goes to all my meetings, to and from work, and I can use it whenever the mood strikes me without worrying about the battery running out, even with high brightness and Wi-fi always on. My one recommendation: If you plan on watching videos/Hulu/etc. on the device, go ahead and purchase the 2GB single stick of RAM (it’s like $25); you’ll want it if you want seamless video playback. Overall, and excellent product!

I have a full size laptop and I wasn’t carrying it on my business trips because it was so heavy. I went and looked at the Acer on the advice of a friend and I loved the idea. Amazon had it cheaper than anywhere I looked. I took it on my recent trip and I had my Kindle, this netbook and some other stuff in my carry on and it was less to carry than one laptop. Very glad I bought this for my birthday!!

this thing is underpowerd every time i watch a video online and raise the volume the video starts to freeze. also web pages slow to load i have a laptop that is over 5yrs old that is faster than this thing. im going to return it.

This is a great little computer, until the charger stops working! So many people have had this problem that Asus has run out of replacement chargers. They assured me it would only be a month or 2 before I would receive it. Nice.

Compramos esta netbook para mi esposa y ella est? muy complacida con su tama?o y desempe?o. El uso que ella le d? es para poder llevar sus fotos y m?sica donde sea que vaya, poder conectarse a internet sin problemas. La c?mara web integrada es genial, funciona bien sin ning?n problema a pesar de ser de s?lo 0.3 Mega Pixeles. El rendimiento de la bateria es muy bueno, ella carga la netbook y puede paar varios dias usandola sin necesidad de recargarla (por supuesto unas cuantas horas al dia).

Esta netbook cuenta con muchos puertos USB lo que permite conectar varios dipositivos externos sin ning?n problema. Hasta ahora la falta de unidad de CD/DVD no ha sido problema ya que todos los programas que hemos necesitado han etado disponibles en internet.

Nuestra recomendaci?n es comprarla en color blanco, ya que permite visualizar mejor el teclado de noche.

Adicional nosotros compramos una funda de neopreno reversible que le va muy bien, tambi?n adquirimos una memoria de 2Gb pero hasta el momento no hemos tenido necesidad de instalarla.

Just bought this from Amazon a month ago and I LOVE IT! It has everything I was looking for:

To me, it was an easy decision after a bit of research. This is the best for the price. The screen is plenty bright, and the battery still lasts 6-8 hrs. The keyboard is *slightly* smaller than a standard size one, and I adapted to it quickly. I really like the touchpad and the zoom function. The *only* minor annoyance is that its glossy finish gets smudged easily. I keep a lens-cloth in the case to shine it up. Problem solved. I was happy to buy it here–free shipping and no sales tax! It shipped quickly and arrived a few days before the estimated delivery date. If you decide this is the one for you, I hope you’ll be as happy as I am with this netbook.
