User Ratings and Reviews
5 Stars Expectations Fully Met
I purchased the Asus netbook based on recommendations from a colleague who had purchased one & several publications that touted it as the best on the market. All of these recommendations have proven to be spot-on! In the month since I took delivery of it, the product has fully met my expectations. It’s easy to use; the keyboard is of sufficient size; and the battery life has lived up to its claims. A definite 5-star purchase!
5 Stars Good netbook
I had used ASUS EeePC 4G with MS-windowXP for almost 16 months before I purchased this 1000HE. Now, Windows7 (RC) is running on this 1000HE with 2GB RAM. I really like the display, HDD capacity, battery life, and a keyboard. Since I had read other people’s reviews, I have no trouble or finger prints becaue of leather cover which I bought with 1000HE. This is a really good notebook with Windows7.
5 Stars Finest laptop/netbook I’ve ever used!
There are already several hundred reviews that have been written about this netbook, so I don’t need to say too much. But let me just say that I’ve been absolutely delighted with it during the few months that I’ve owned it.
The battery life is every bit as good as the manufacturer claims. You’ll easily hit around 9 hours, just so long as you don’t have anything plugged into it (i.e. when I have my broadband card hooked up, it will reduce the battery life down to something like 7 hours).
You will, of course, need to get an external DVD/CD drive, but I haven’t found that that has been a big drawback.
I would recommend picking up a 2 gig RAM card. I did that right when I ordered it. It brings the performance in line with at least the last Dell laptop that I had (and without the endless headaches of owning a Dell!).
The compact keyboard may be awkward for some, but I don’t think that it makes a big difference at all. Some of Asus’ “Seashell” netbooks have larger keyboards/screen, but the drawback to the slightly larger size is a reduced battery life. For my purposes, this one works out just perfectly.
I wouldn’t hesitate to pick up another EEE PC in the future.
